About MYT

  • MYT was founded by sisters Amanda Michele and Becca Walker.

    All About Becca

Becca became an Okie in 2014 when she came down here for her sophomore year of college, following her now husband, Brennan, who was born and raised in Oklahoma. The two were married in 2015. In 2017, Becca graduated college with a degree in elementary education. She taught 2nd grade at Northern Hills Elementary School in Edmond for four years before taking the leap to start Metro Youth Theatre with her sister, Amanda.

Becca’s theatre interest began when she played Glinda in her 5th grade production of The Wizard of Oz. The following year she moved to Wichita, Kansas where there were arts opportunities galore for youth. She began taking dance classes in tap and ballet, auditioned for every show possible from 8th grade through her senior year in high school, and found her love for choreography by being given the chance to choreograph for her high school show choir. Becca spent her summers singing in the teen choir, working backstage as an apprentice, or enjoying being an audience member for almost every show at Music Theatre of Wichita. She is overjoyed to be bringing more opportunities for youth to engage in the world of music theatre.

    All Abut Amanda

Amanda Michele moved to Oklahoma in 2021 having previously lived in Kansas, California, Arizona, and Iowa. She has pursued many potential career paths in her adult life, ultimately landing on founding Metro Youth Theatre with her sister, Becca.

Amanda’s passion for theatre began with her family’s move to Wichita, KS where she discovered a love for performing through show choir. That love spilled over into musical theatre, and Amanda began doing every theatre-related thing she could get her hands on. Like Becca, Amanda was heavily involved in performing in the Teen Choir and apprenticing backstage at Music Theatre of Wichita during high school. She also performed in and worked backstage for many shows at both Maize High School and Music Theatre for Young People. Dance lessons, vocal lessons, and rehearsals became her life, and she eventually decided to pursue musical theatre at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa. After a several-year hiatus from theatre, Amanda began getting back into musical theatre by performing in Curtains at Ames Community Theatre in Ames, Iowa. She quickly began picking up directing, costuming, and choreography jobs at Boone High School near Ames. This experience sparked a new passion for teaching youth about all things performance and musical theatre. Amanda is incredibly excited to be bringing performance education to youth in the OKC area!
